LINCOLN PARK PORTRAIT SESSION || SHANNON + DAVID

I had the opportunity this weekend to shoot a portrait session for a good friend and fellow photographer, David Bracho and his girlfriend, Shannon Kelly. They met 5 years ago in the news room where she was a copy editor and he was a photo editor at Indiana University for the Indiana Daily Student.

For their portraits, we went all around the Lincoln Park and Belmont area to the special places where they spend their time together. These are some of my favorites from their session.

After some Bobtail Ice Cream we went over to their favorite bakery, Molly’s Cupcakes.

David won the first round…

…but Shannon trapped him in the second round for the win!

Happy anniversary you two!

THE CROWN AND TWO CHAIRMEN || SUBTERRANEAN

I had the opportunity to shoot The Crown and Two Chairmen this past weekend at the Subterranean. When they got on, they turned off all the stage lights and it was almost completely dark except for a couple of tube lights and the light in bass drum. This made me really nervous until they turned on their 3200 watt tower of light bulbs. Needless to say, they rocked it! My ears were still ringing the next morning.

If you get the chance, check them out at an upcoming concert back at the Subterranean on Wednesday, April 28th. They are opening for The Fireship, The Dear Hunter and The Felix Culpa.

A short blog recapping WPPI will be up soon!

A NEW BLOG

I’ve been putting off making a legit blog and website for quite sometime now. I’ve always made excuses but now I’m happy to welcome to you to my new blog! I’m so excited to have this up and running just in time for WPPI this year in Las Vegas!!

Last year I went for the first time with Albert Yau and met some super cool people along the way. I’m more prepared for this year because this time I’ll actually have a schedule to follow and I’ll be able to join everyone for the big boy parties. Anyway here’s a look back to some of the things that happened at WPPI 2009.

view from our hotel room.

I’m excited to check this place out, it wasnt ready last year but it should be all up now.

Albert’s photo below.

We were at FatBurger for the first time and decided to go all out.

I couldn’t finish mine but here’s what was left over.

Here is the crowd gathering for Nikon’s BIG event, Blues Traveler.

Blues Traveler was our entertainment last year, I can’t wait to see who’s performing this year!

This was a slide from Cliff Mautner‘s platform class. It was one of his favorite quotes and now its one of mine.

I met some really awesome people last year. The two people below are the super amazing artists that make up Misha Media! We have an ongoing argument about Canon vs. Nikon.

Here’s my good friend and roommate from WPPI Albert Yau! We were getting ready for a shoot with Bob Davis on the strip.

The photos below are of the couple we shot. Roberto Valenzuela and his fiance.

At the trade show,  Joe McNally was giving a presentation about Nikon cameras when he smelled my 5D…
